It has to be the gearbox - everything else has been replaced or removed and inspected. What I will do is get a new gearbox and fit it to see. But first I need a new box. Could someone in the know please list out all compatible gearboxes for my car.
I just want those with identical gearing and fittment. I don't want the gearing altered, and I dont want to machine anything to fit!
I think I have read somewhere that a lot of the gearboxes are the same, as all the variation is done through the final drive in the rear diff (which has also been replaced!). Info much appreciated, and if someone knows of a good box, I might have it. Must be low milage, although I now know that E36 mechanicals are very easy and cheap to get hold of. Had a look at realOMM, but it's not that useful as it lists lots of cars on the part No. Search, but then only lista the part as 'transmission oil' after that. Could someone please compile a list for me. Or is it any E36 2.8 and above.
What about the lesser M52 E46's/ Z3's etc etc. Ok.did the search on RealOEM. And you are right, confusing about the oil. Its just that it mentions the gearboxes that the oil can be used on. Autos are also list, but when you go to that car it says 'no parts match you car'. Anyway heres the list rationalised, and Mikes right.
